Biography

Dr. Daniel Paris is Senior Scientist and Head of Research and Development at The Roskamp Institute. He brings over 30 years of experience in biomedical research, with a particular focus on neurodegenerative disorders. His work centers on small-molecule drug discovery and the development of innovative therapeutic strategies for neurodegenerative and inflammatory diseases, especially Alzheimer’s disease. He has extensive expertise in amyloid precursor protein (APP) biology, β-amyloid and tau pathology, neuroinflammation, and angiogenesis, as well as in the translational development of candidate compounds using both in vitro and in vivo models.

Dr. Paris earned his Doctor of Science in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology from the University of Paris VII (France), where he developed animal models of chromosome 21–linked pathologies, including Down syndrome and Alzheimer’s disease. Before joining the Roskamp Institute in Sarasota, he served as Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the University of South Florida, where he directed the Division of Neural and Cerebrovascular Inflammation. He has also held graduate faculty appointments at Florida International University and the Open University (UK), mentoring Ph.D. students in neuroscience. In addition, he has served as a reviewer for numerous international funding agencies and scientific journals. Dr. Paris is an inventor on multiple treatment patents related to Alzheimer’s therapeutics, angiogenesis modulation and inflammation, and his research has been funded by several grants from the NIH, Department of Veterans Affairs, Department of Defense, and the Alzheimer’s Association.
